Google is rolling out mobile-first indexing

Google is rolling out Mobile-First Indexing of website pages.

In the past, Google would index the desktop version of each web page. Their bot would go to the site — crawl around as if they were a desktop computer — and record different things about each page.

With Mobile-First indexing, Google will use the mobile version of your pages for indexing and ranking. This will better help mobile users, who are now Google’s primary searchers, find what they are looking for. In July 2018, Google also announced that slow-loading content may not perform as well in search. A fast website can help both mobile and desktop users as well as your search rankings.
